Recruitment, Admissions & Preparation Representative
Term: Three years
Appointment: By the Chair Stream
Qualifications:
- A NAFSA member
- Willingness to serve as a regional leader
- Recent experience as a professional in international recruitment, international admissions, or English as a Second Language teaching and/or program administration
- Support and encouragement of home institution to carry out responsibilities of RAP Representative, including participation in regional and national conferences
- Previous experience at the regional level in international education, including presenting at regional conferences; presenting at a national conference is desirable
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the activities of a group of Recruitment, Admissions and Preparation professionals in the region to serve the region. The group should include members responsible for recruitment, admissions, credential evaluation, English Language Programs administration, as well as other identified areas in the RAP area. The group should ensure that RAP professionals are involved in the regional activities, including the regional conference, membership, mentoring, and advocacy.
- Plan two to three RAP meetings a year to foster this core group of RAP professionals as well as to provide professional development and networking opportunities for new RAP professionals.
- Provide assurance to new professionals in the RAP area in the region, introducing them to key materials, answering questions, and putting them in touch with others who can help.
- Participate in regional conference planning to ensure content of interest to RAP professionals in conference sessions, speakers and workshops. Recruit presenters for regional conference sessions and workshops.
- Assume leadership role for coordinating all details of OSEAS (Overseas Educational Advisors) participation in the regional conference as well as in activities beneficial to RAP professionals including organizing special RAP meetings, counselor dinners, and campus visits to colleges and universities in the region.
- Participate in team meetings and training, including those at the regional and national conferences. Represent RAP interests in the regional meetings and regional issues in the KC meetings at the national level.
- Assist Regional Chair stream in identifying potential candidates as a successor. Ensure a smooth transition for the successor to the position.
- Work with State Representatives to ensure high quality RAP content in state meetings and workshops, and to encourage membership of RAP professionals in NAFSA.
- Provide materials and links for regional website on topics of interest to RAP professionals.
