ABOUT THIS SITE

This award is established in memory of Sally M. Heym, a member of NAFSA Region XI for more than twenty years who provided innovative, creative, and inspired leadership for her colleagues, both in the region and at the national level. The award will honor a colleague who has made outstanding contributions to the field of international education.

One of Sally's areas of special interest was promoting professional development opportunities for NAFSAns at all stages in their careers. This award includes a plaque and a monetary prize that must be used for professional development (e.g., to attend a course or workshop, to undertake a research project, to attend a conference outside of NAFSA, for international travel, for books or videos in the field, etc.). The official presentation of the award will be made at the regional conference in November.

Criteria: the nominee shall be a professional colleague who:

1. is an active member of NAFSA Region XI and has played a leadership role in promoting international education in the region,
   
   
2. has been in the field of international education for a minimum of 5 years, and
   
   
3. has been an inspiration to colleagues and is a continuing source of information and wisdom.
   

All nominations must be received by July 1st of each year in either of two formats:

1. Download the nomination form below (Microsoft Word). Type directly on the form, SAVE YOUR CHANGES, and email the file to Vschaff@ise.virginia.edu

2. Write an email message that includes all of the information in the nomination form. Send your email message to Vschaff@ise.virginia.edu

Please note that a letter of support is required; your nomination will not be considered without one. Submissions must be electronic, and must be received by the deadline. Selection of recipients will be made by the NAFSA Region XI Leadership Team.
